I get a blue strip at the bottom of the tv screen with file vts etc...

and

the controller does not control the menu, i.e the scroll to choose play or bonus etc, and not to forget, the movie does'nt play when i incert it, i have to scroll to folder video and find the file, it's all not right?

any ideas what i have been doing wrong?

Huh??? ... that's what I thought when I read your post. I understand you have playback problems, but how are we suppose to help if we don't know what programs your using and what were your steps?

i used DVD Decrypter and then ulead burn.now.

i'm a novice, as u may guess I know nothing of what options should or could be set for decrpting or burning a film for the tv dvd player?

i am trying to back up a film, which i have, it works on my pc, but on the tv dvd player, it's not working like the dvd films u would purchase
any ideas

Could be the program, or your media or your standalone player.

Try using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to make the backup. What media are you using? Also, check your player's compatibility here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
