I started having a problem of not being able to play a disc made from an original DVD. Until recently, I have successfully burned dozens of movies using DVD Shrink and RecordNow DX, both from copies and originals. I can still make a copy of a copy and play it both on PC and on a stand alone DVD player. I can also burn a disc from an original with a message of a successful burn (using a data disc function in RecordNow), but it doesn?t play on either PC or DVD player. I can extract the decrypted and shrunk files from my hard drive, and play them via InterVideoWinDVD, and I do see both AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders on the burnt disc. One of my DVD players gives an ERROR message, another doesn?t do anything? I am using TDK DVD-R 4X or 8X, and I have tried different boxes and wasted about 10 discs on copies from the originals, and burnt successfully about 12 discs from copies. It startles me that all copies of the copies work and the copies of the originals don?t, and that this new problem is consistent! Somehow I don?t believe it is a media related problem otherwise some of the discs that I use for copying the copies would fail, too.
Also, occasionally I get this message while burning: ?For appended DVDs, the target media should match the media source type. Do you want to continue?? What does it mean? I get this message for all the discs lately ? those that later playback and those that don?t.
Any thoughts as to why I am not able to play the copies of the originals anymore? Am I forgetting some of the settings (which I checked to the best of my knowledge of course)?
