Backing up a already backup PS2 game

If i have a backup of a game already created and works on my modded ps2 and lets say the disc is getting scratched up and i want to redo this backup can I just use alcohol 120% and do a disc copy or do I need to use dvd decryter and make a copy to my hard drive again and burn it that way...

You could always do a dvd to dvd copy. But, it's just quicker and probably better odds for a good burn putting it on the harddrive first.
