Can I play online games even if my PS2 is modded? I plan to use original games for playing online but I want to mod my PS2 for other backup games...

Do i need a particular chip to achieve this? what can you guys recommend?

Yeah you can play backups online. It doesn't matter what type of chip you. Heres a link to how to play backups online.

oh i dont intent to play backups online... my concern is will i have a problem playong online if the PS2 is modded but my game is original? when I get online does it actually detect that my PS2 is modded even though my game is original?

Then you will be fine playing backups online. Most the the more recent chips now-days disable themselves once playing an online game. Also a lot of the newer chips have the ability to be turned off. What type of chip do you have?

I would absolutely recommend the matrix infinity. I is a great chip. Also has the ability to be disabled and goes into stealth mode when playing online games.
