I have got the first game, and i played it for a couple of weeks and that was about it. Then my mate got halo 2 and lent it me and i didn't play it. I think its a decent game series, but thats about it. What have i missed? What makes it so good that it stands from the crowd.

You're right! I had never thought about it as that. I think its the game people associate with an XBOX, like GTA/GT and PS2. Its got quite outstanding graphics, but behind all the flashing plasma crap, its just a basic fps.
