Hello people

I've just bought a new nec dvd rw drive but im having lots of trouble trying to get it to work, okay so it plays normal dvds/cds but wont regonise a dvd-r unless i go to the drive properties and click on 'enable recording on this drive', even then it reads the dvd-r capacity wrong as 3.6gb when it should be 4.7gb. can someone please, please help i really dont want to assume the drives knackered cause i bought it from e-buyer and dont wont to send back unless i really have to as a last resort
