If you are making a back up of an online game but you never intend on playing online, do u still have to patch it?

i always patch it even it is not online playable. It is my habit of keeping a DNAS for every game i have. i dont know about u, but some ppl say some game that is play able online must b patched in order to play offline. My online game didnt get patched but it runs w/o errors. Chances are u might wanan patch your onine game too, just incase.
