hp 530i not being seen as a dvd

I have just installed a hp530i dvd drive and can be seen in windowns explorer and can play dvds but in nero 5.5.9.14and or record it now build: 720b315 version:7.2.2 it does not see the dvd drive at all. i am running windows 2000 and her is the config of the dirves Secondary IDE channel
master : HP dvd writer 530i
dma on
auto run on
Slave _ Nec nr 7900A
dma on
autorun on
any and all help would be great!!!!!!!!
