Hello all and thank you in advance

I have just gotten my 1st dvd burner from zipzoomfly
its a 8x dvd cdr dealy,works great on cd`s and cdr`s

Well installed and activated dvd x copy gold (old version) and after it reads the dvd and asks for a writable dvd a few mins go by and i get:

"write operation was not successful.
Optimum Laser Power Calibration Failed
Driver error code=02037303h
Optical Power Calibration error"

Can any of you help me here????

Power calibration errors are usually caused by low quality media. What brand/type media are you using? Have you updated the firmware for the drive?

hello and thank you for getting back to me ......

Here is the brand of Burner i got

Artec VOM-12E48X 12x4x12x Internal DVD±RW Dual Drive

the dvd i was trying to use were 5 blanks that came with the drive...What brand do you recommend i use ?
Il`l go to the store and get some asap !

Good ones to get at a retail store are Verbatim Metal AZO, Maxell and TDK, all in -R format.

Did you update the firmware? Firmware helps media recognition and burn performace so I'd try Artec's site first and if there's nothing there you can try here:

thanks pals, i got a sleeve of maxell DVD+R 8X 4.7gb media and all went smoothly

Dont know why but it used 2 disks ?

just gotta get the Xcopy down pat i imagine

why do you recommend -R media ??? any reason ?

I haven't used XCopy in a dog's age but I know it'll split a large movie over two discs. I know the later versions will compress but I can't really remember.

I recommended -R simply because I knew what the media code would be. I haven't used any of the +R from those makers so I wasn't sure what media code would be and whether it was any good or not.
