I had my ps2 modded today and they told me it was harmful for the laser to use dvd+R discs. Anyone heard the same or is it just some crap from people who don?t know sh*t about it? If anyone knows the truth pls tell me cause I did burn several games on DVD+R already.

If your PS2 will actually read dvd+r (some versions won't) i don't see how it could do more or less harm than using DVD-R.

The quietest media i have ever heard a PS2 boot was a verbatim dvd+r DL disk, which was pretty much as quiet as a proper pressed DVD. That is if u base assumed laser wear on the amount of noise created while reading.

yep, plus r is newer so only like v7 and up ps2 will play them. but they are better than -r disc since theyre newer and MANY other reasons.

yeah, id say its probably some1 who just doesnt use +r discs or just hates them for no apparent reason!

Questions...without them, who could be smart, we'd all know everything!

Swap Disk/Slide card (V2.0 and V3.0 disk's)
V7 PS2
Toshiba Northgate 2003 model
Burning program - DVD Decryptor
Teon DVD+R disk's (haven't failed yet!)

I also use Verbatim Dvd+R (data life). There great for backups.
All my PS2's including my v3 can read them perfectly.
I also noticed that newer games such as San Andreas work better with plus media. They dont freeze or give errors messages like minus does.

Any Verbatim media is fine, not had a problem with any of it. plus or minus.

When i said the best media i had used was Verb DL, i meant Dual Layer!! although Data Life+ is almost as good.

I was unable to get my backup to work on a purple back dvd, but it worked when I tried it with a blue back dvdr. Is this a general rule when backing up ps2 games or is this just a fluke? Which blue back dvdr are the best to use?

My ver 5/6 prefers +r's, especially for new games that read heavily form the disk.
