I also got a Maxell DVD+R 100 pack and DVDINFOPRO says they are Ritek R02. This is the first time my Maxell's have never been RICHOJPN. Is Ritek R02 good? Anyone know.

I know of digitalfaq site and looked befre posting my DVDINFOPRO results. But it says Ritek GO1 and Ritek GO2 as 4th class media.

The Maxell DVD+R is Ritek "R02" and the DVD-R is Ritek "G04".

Maxell only uses top a grade media. I prefer getting the ones with media code MXL RG02 because i know they are really good (those are -r). I do not know that ritek media code but iv only had good experiance with maxells. You should look into the 200pack of BenQ dvds also on at future shop only $60 canadian for 200 its a steal. There not crap media either. I have burned about 150 -r and 100 +r without any coasters. Im very impressed and will definantly buy BenQ media again. media code for +r daxon AZ1 media for -r daxon 004 I beleive this is their own media code and that benq manufatures them themselves.

MRMAN- Future shop does not have a 200 pack of BENQ DVD-R's on sale. They do have a 200 pack of Mitsumi for $69.99 Now these are total garbage in my opinion.

Actually he is right. The BENQ's 200 pack is still on sale at last on the website. Sale ends January 13, 2005. See link below.

I did buy them last summer when they had a big sale on them, but I prefer Maxell. I do agree that Daxon who makes the BENQ's is said to be good media. My experience with the BENQ's was good. I did find burning to close to the edge a problem so with BENG I set target size to 4200. Just my experience.

I also agree that Mitsumi is garbage media.

I've been using Maxell for a while now and it seems to me when you get a sale with the larger spindles (more than 15) its starting to be a crap shoot as to what you get. All my 15 packs, 4x dvd-r, yellow tops, are mxlr-go2 and I got one that was Taiyo Yuden. My relatives in Florida got me 2-50 packs that were on sale at office depot and they read ritek go4. STAPLES has the 15 pack on sale right now for $5.94. I only buy in smaller packs, just buy more of them. Unless the relatives come through again LOL.

I was so ugly when I was a kid, my parents used to take me everywhere just so they wouldn't have to kiss me goodbye.

I appologize, but I asked at my future shop and they do regional sales with different things available in different areas. The Benq is not available here right now, either way I bought the maxell discs and at 50 cents each and being great media theres no complaints from me.

I agree with you man. The BENQ is a great price. If you really want the BENQ you can order online with free shipping.

But the Maxell is a better value since the media quality is better. I got one of each and actually may go back for another one of each. I have burned over 20 DVD-R's since friday and not one coaster.

Love Maxell.

I decided and went to buy another Maxell DVD-R 100 pack. At this price may as well stock up. DVDINFOPRO identified it different from the first stack I got from a different FutureShop store on Friday. This stack has a gold color top and did not say on the package where it was manufactured and was identified as:

Hey bassnut...

I guess I did luck out. I should have gotten another 100 pack spindle! I have not burned any of them yet. But I think I will try one today. Im off to FutureShop to buy Catwoman and then I will back it up on this Maxell DVD-R disc!

Anyone know if the BenQ DVD+R works with the PS2 for backups/DVD's. Thanks

I don't know about PS2's, but the BenQ +R's are uncommonly good ... on a par with Maxell, maybe a little better. I have burned about 100 of them, with zero coasters, with no Nero quality score lower than 93 (randomly tested) and I cannot find a player they won't play on.

I don't think that 200 for $60 sale at Futureshop is still on, but if it ever returns .. LOAD UP! At $0.30 per in Canadian funds ... they lost their minds.

Ohhh .. they are advertised as 4X, but they are 8X blanks and they burn effortlessly and perfectly at 16X. I ended up buying 800 of the suckers.

Ya, I bought 200 myself, just wondering if I wasted my money on media I couldn't use on a ps2 (still waiting for swap magic & slim tool.) I also haven't found a player they dont work in, even a POJ apex that was $29.99. I think the reason for that is because I use booktype management, but I could be wrong. Anyways, thanks for the reply.
