Just curious. I just DL shrink and I want to know what is a good write speed. Also if I leave it on MAX speed does that mess up the quality of the movie? Thank you for any help.

The slower the burn the better chance of getting a good quilty DVD, wouldnt recomend going over 4X

Hey bekosha,4x is about par for most members here at AD.

The main thing on the burn speed,certain stand alone players have a harder time reading backups burned at a fast rate.

If you notice any pixellation,freezing,skipping,jumping, or any thing else when you view those backups in your stand alone player/s, then slow it down.

I have backed up a few at 12x and 16x on high quality media and burner with no problems. Poor quality media usually has to have a very,very slow burn speed.

not sure if burning movies at better speeds will ever happen. i remember when CD's first cam out you couldn't even burn decent audio if your burner didnt support DAE (digital audio extraction). we used to use good quality blank CDs too (v expensive). at least these days you can use the cheapest CDs you want and still get good quality audio.

I agree 4X burning seems to be the key speed. I use Verbatim 8X+R's and have had no coasters at all.
