Hi, first post to this forum. Thanks to all so far for the info I've gathered by lurking.
I've encountered a sudden problem with burning. I have a sony DRU-530A with the up-to-date firmware, which I purchased used, with supposedly a dozen or so burns on it. I've burned approximately 30 movies so far using DVDShrink/ANYDVD, and Alcohol 120, no problems. I can now only rip DVD's, but not burn. Standard CD's copy and burn just fine. The only change I've made since my last successful burn was to download the latest MS media player, and the newest DVD Decrypter. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is a snip of my Alcohol log:

I notice your trying to burn at 4x. try turning it up or down and see if you still get the same error message. it might actually be a couroption in alchol 120. you might try reinstalling or using another such as nero or copytodvd. Have you rebooted and tried after that. check your ASPI version and see if it is running properly or properly installed. I'll be honest with you. Im just throwing thing out there that I would try. check you aspi version, you can dl it here http://www.adaptec.de/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&language=German&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&faq_id=8439
Follow the guide you'll find 1/2 way down this page. Once your settings have been made you should have no trouble. If we do, we'll then have to look at your firmware, ASPI layer etc.
I will follow the instructions from the attached thread and report back. I would like to add though, that I have tried to burn an image that was created with DVD Decrypter, and it also failed, using alcohol to burn. I've tried to burn with the software that was included with the Sony (Sonic Record Now) also with failure. I've even restored my PC to a known good image using Norton Ghost, still no luck.
I've had similar problems with the new version of DVD Decrypter.
The only way I can download to the designated VIDIO_TS folder is in file mode, after that Decrypter can't access the folder,
however I can still burn a vidio from there using Nero vision express.
The next problem was downloading in ISO mode, and burning with Dycrpter; after much trial and errors' I found the ISO's would read\download into C:\New.ISO file! And upload/burn from C:\New.MDS file!
It's no hardship typing these two options in so I'm leaving well alone, for now. lol
Both these files are well hidden in the Sub-folders
So I use the search facility to delete them afterwards.
Thanks, looks like I'm in!
I followed the instructions and was able to burn succesfully. It still confuses me as to why Alcohol stopped working. Is it possible that when I installed the new DVD Decrypter software it corrupted Alcohol?
