You will need either a)-Modchip or b)-swapmagic w/slide card or flip top
http://www.swapmagic3.com

First off before you start burning

Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r 8x 100 pack ( 24.99 )
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002IQ1I0/slickdeals/104-0984492-0108766

Here is some simple instructions

1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.

2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).

3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mdf) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

Possunt Quia Posse Videntur.

if you're referring to Decrypter, killer, then that doesn't matter; Decrypter burns the right file, anyway :)

Use Alcohol, Nero or DVD Decrypter. They're all easy and simple to me. On the other hand, I dig Decrypter and Nero more, perhaps due to the fact that I've had more experienced with them.

When i read games onto my hd the mds file is always far smaller than the iso file so i always choose the iso file and maybe that is why i haven't had a successful backup yet?

Does anyone have a list of PS2/DVD games that don't work?

I just got started burning PS2 games for backups and the first one worked perfect. The second one didn't work. The first game was Need for speed Hot pursuit 2. The second was True crime.
After doing my swap, True Crime's intro screen loads but when it tries to phase to the next screen I get the "please load a valid ps2 disk" red error screen.

My friend told me that Mercenaries did the same thing to him.
Maybe some of the newer games can't be copied this way?

ok...

It gave me a bin and a cue and two internet shortcut files.
How do I apply them to the files that dvddecryptor gave me?

I don't understand why I would use a cd loader for a dvd game. Wouldn't I use a dvd loader for a dvd game?
If you look at the list you will see the true crime for the V7 is cdloader.

Any more insight?
Thx for your help so far :)

yes, but they both do the exact same thing. I use the dvd loader version just because my swap magic cd doesn't work.

Hi guys.

I've just recently got one of those old fat ps2s. its already chipped, and I got an original and a copy.

they both work fine using that hold power for 2 second technique when its an original, etc.

I got a bunch of things off emule to try to burn, so they are already isos that people say are working.

I tried recording a bunch of them, and ended up with nothing but coasters...

Im writing on Princo dvd-r, they arent that great, but arent bad either.

writing the games on a PIV 2.8 with 1gb ddr and a pioneer dvdrw and a samsung dvdrw.

Ive used Alcohol 120%, Nero, and CloneDVD to try to write, none produced better results than the following:

- doesnt even recognise the format
- Shows playstation2 sign, and goes on to play the video intro of the game flawlessly,
but then:
a) it allows me to start playing and then gets some kind of halting error reading the dvd... (vice city)
b) stops there, like loading but never actually stops loading, (midnight club 3 dub.)
c) starts off, but slow motion like, be it video or audio, halting every few seconds, making it impossible to play (ssx3 (copied from my original))

any ideas what I could do to make this work?

ps.: the pc that im writing the dvd-rs on, is also connected to the net 24hr, with emule always on the go. would this be influencing it? there dont seem to be any memory/cpu load problems...

thanks guys.

use dvd decypter because its better, burn slowly, at 1 or 2x max, use decent media

skipping music or graphics are a sign your media isnt good enough

dont have any apps running in the background, it can cause problems occasionally while burning

Princo is awful media to use. Get some decent media first of all, such as Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Maxell
