I am a bit new at backing-up games and need some information. My kid used a game as a teething ring and I never want that to happen again without a backup. I have CloneCD, DVD Decrypter, CDRWin, a DVD+/-RW driver/burner and all that jazz. I keep reading about a mod chips and the flip top thingy(which is a big fat no for me).

Questions: Can you do a direct BIT(1's & 0's)copy of a PS2 game and not need a mod chip? Does the copy disk type have anything to do with the game playing(DVD+R, DVD-R)? And I saw something about DNAS games being really tricky? I am going to continue to look around for information, but anything y'all have will help.

You will need either a)-Modchip or b)-swapmagic w/slide card or flip top
http://www.swapmagic3.com
swap magic works on all versions of ps2 and does
not require taking apart your ps2 or voiding your warranty

Why would everyone be buying modchips and or swapmagic disks if we didnt need them

This software DVD Decrypter will allow you
to backup your ps2 games

DVD Decryptor

First off before you start burning

Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r 8x 100 pack ( 24.99 )
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002IQ1I0/slickdeals/104-0984492-0108766

Here is some simple instructions

1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.

2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).

3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mdf) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

Good Luck
