OK I'll take a stab at this. I have read tons of pages and askes tons of people and still am having problems. I am trying to burn movies that I have recorded on my hard drive through Windows XP Media center. I believe that I have all the software that I need (Smartripper, DVD Shrink, DVD decriptor, Nero and so on).

My problem is I can't figure out how to make all of this work for me. I have figured out how to burn a DVD to a DVD with my DVDX Copy. But as I stated I have plenty of movies from HBO and Showtime that are copy writen that I would like to burn from my hard drive.

Can someone help please. I'll try to be a good student however, please remember I am a beginner.

That format are all these files in that you wish to burn to disc.

Second, what size are they averaging per movie ?

Thank you Pete. I have seen many of your responces and know I'll get this working with your help.

First the files are all range from 2GB to 4GB.

Second the type is: dvr-ms

Remember I recorded these with my MS Windows XP Media Center OS.

Here's a little something one of our members posted a while back -

DVR to DVD by Veblin (Senior Member)

If you want to record directly to a DVD, buy a DVD recorder.

If you want to get your video to your computer, we need to know what type of DVR you have.

If it's based on Replay TV, then it is just a matter of installing the correct software.

Rpx, I had the same problem trying to convert my shows from Windows Media Center Edition. Finally figured out a way, its a little involoved but it works flawlessly for me.

First I got a program DVR2WMV, that converts it from microsofts proprietary file format "DVR-MS" to something editable.

Next I convert it with TMPGEnc which gives me MPEG-1 Layer II audio (MP2).

After that I put it through TMPGEnc Dvd Author and edit out all the unwanted/commercial parts. "You can also make menu's if you care to."

Once Dvd Author is done I save it to a folder I made and run it through DVD Shrink to fit it on my disc.
Burn with whatever program you want/have.

Hope this helps you out, also check out the site from the first link I posted. TGB has all sorts of things to do with MCE "Media Center Edition".
