Could be the media you used,
Could have been the burn speed,
The disk you copied from could have been dirty,
you could have had too many active tasks
when you made the backup.

Need more information.

I would use better media

The following list is in preference order. The best discs are near the top of the list. The discs at
the bottom of the list are suitable only for a landfill.

Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<--VERBATIM
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)

Decent discs, though not perfect, about 85-95%
success rate:

RICOHJPN = Ritek or Ricoh = (+R)
SONYD04 = Sony = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
PRODISC = Prodisc Media = (+RW)
INFODISC = Infodisc Media = (+RW)
RITEKG04 = Ritek = (-R)
RITEKG03 = Ritek = (-R)
OPTODISC = Optodisc = (-R)

Quality can be very questionable, about 50-80% success rate:

LEADDATA or LD01 or LD or LEDA = Lead Data = (-R)(-RW)
PRINCO = Princo = (-R)(-RW)
RITEK = Ritek = (-RW)
ONIDTECH = OnidTech = (-R)

Pathetic garbage media, landfill material, about 0-50% success rate:

RITEKG01, RITEKG02 = Ritek = (-R)
PIODATA = Lead Data = (-R) ... often sold as "Pioneer OEM" but that's false
Unbranded PIO = Fake Pioneer = (-R) ... often sold as "Pioneer OEM" but that's false
Unbranded SONY = Fake Sony = (-R)
Unbranded MXL = Fake MXL = (-R)
ACCU = Unknown OEM = (-R)
LONGTEN = Unknown OEM = (-R)
AN31, AN32, ANWELL, AN30 = Unknown OEM = (-R)
OPTODISC = Optodisc = (+R)(+RW)
MATRIX = Unknown OEM = (-R)
CMC = CMC Magnetics = (+R)(-R)
ANYTHING ELSE = Unknown OEM or NEW

I have 30+ Ps2 Dvd backups,But no not getaway 2
Dvd Stand alone players dont seem to care about media quality,
But ps2's are picky.
If you have a ver5 or better get some good
+r media from top of the list

Heres my step by step post here

I use only Memorex DVD-R's and have probably about 200+ backups and have never had a problem with any of them. I have had problems burning certain games but this is because they needed to be rebuilt, such as: Bloodrayne 2, Mercenaries and The Guy Game. You can find ways to rebuild them on this website. The Getaway: Black Monday I had a problem with loading on my Ps2, and I am rebuilding that one as I speak, so we will see. By the way those Memorex DVD-r's, you can get a 30 pack of them in cool nifty colors for about 15 dollars.

The problem with memorex is that they buy their media from several different manufacturers, some good some bad. If I knew I would always get Ricohjpn then I would buy them all the time, but every time I gambled and bought some they were either cmc magnetics or info disk which are both bottom of the barrel clay pigion stand ins. Never again. Since I buy 100 at a time I'm not willing to take a chance on getting crap media.

I've heard that before about the memorex DVD's. Fortunately I have been lucky (and hopefully I never get a bad batch!), but that could be because I have a memorex DVD burner as well... who knows...

Plus I think that DVD Decrypter is crap, I have never gotten it to properly burn a PS2 game, and have used Nero for everything and never had a problem. Like I said, 200+ games, so I must be doing something right! ;)

DVD Decrypter is all i use,
And a WHOLE LOT of people on this forum too.

So You must be doing something wrong.
ANYWAY Dont say it doesn't work because it does.
Here is my method.

***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS

1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.

2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).

3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.
