I've been trying to use Nero Vision express to make a dvd.
I'm converting Lost In Translation from a divx avi file.
But every time I've tried it , the process quits about an hour before it has finished saying there's not enough space on the back-up directory.
How much space does it need?? I've got 30 gigs spare on the drive in question & when I check it has indeed used all of it & so quits.
Is this normal? It's not that long a film :)

Just a thought your hard drive is in the NTFS mode not FAT32 isn't it?

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the difference? And why would it have a bearing on the problem?

Well if your HD is in in the FAT32 mode any given folder would only have a 4gig capacity.

On the other hand in NTFS mode the folder can contain the spare space on your HD.

In XP to find out right click on the my computer icon desktop.
right click on open, right click on the C drive, right click on properies, and it will tell you what file system you have.

OK. Thanks. C drive is FAT32 but the drive I'm storing files on is NTFS - so it should be fine, yeah?

Both the temp files & saved media files are going to the other drive - I moved em so there'd be plenty of room. I installed Nero on D, so the only Nero-related files on C are the Audio plugins, the DS filter & the Lib folders.
I may just try converting the dvix avi file with Cucusoft & then do the rest of the process in Nero if I can't get any joy (although last time I tried this I got a really jerky dvd as a result....which is why I got VisionExpress! (sigh)

Well, thanks ....but am no closer to solving the problem - just establishing that there WAS plenty of space for the operation.
And considering alternatives....:)
