I/O Magic 8X DVD burner not working

Dear Forum,
I have recently begun having problems with my dvd drive. It is an I/O Magic 8X internal drive. I have been able to use it for about 6 months to burn CDs mainly.

I recently installed DVD shrink and tried to use it. Not only did DVD shrink not work, but the computer no longer recognizes anything I put in the drive. The computer recognizes the hardware and is able to control it (i.e. eject disks), but it will not read any cd/dvd I place inside it.

I have since scanned my hard drive for viruses/spyware. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all drives. I removed DVD shrink. ALL WITH NO RESULT.

I run an Intel 2.6 ghz 32 bit chip with Intel mobo.
Win XP
Memory Kingston DDR 2200 512 mb
440W PS

Please help!
