My DVD43 "face" has disappeared from my menu (lower right side). It still seems to be working, but what happened?

Which version of DVD43 do you have?

bring up task manager (ctrl,alt,delete) and make sure there is DVD43_Tray.exe listed (this means its really running). If its not you should be able to simply restart the program from start menu or program files
Easiest way to fix it if its running would be to uninstall-reinstall v3.04.06 (latest STABLE version)

Thanks for your advice. When I restarted my computer last night, the DVD43 icon was right there where it should be! Don't know what the problem was, but it seems to be working fine again. If I have trouble again, I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling. Thanks again!

no probs, try anydvd if you want (same functions, more support) cept it cost money. It will break the newest sony encryption
