DVD burning!

I have recently purchased the new Plextor PX-716UF, however I am having a terrible time trying to burn my DVD movies. It seems to never burn the discs so that they are formattable with any other component! I am using DVD X Copy Express! I am not sure if the plextor burner does not allow that program to burn. I know that it is not my region setting either, that is set on 1. Any help would be great!
