I have been backing up my movies for a few months now and it has been taking some time. I have a few hundred, and now I am stuck on the 2nd Harry potter movie. " Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? Shrink will not analyze past 30 something percent and DVD decrypter ends up with read error @ about 43%. I have loaded the "any DVD" software on my computer with the same results. I really am stuck here. In the past I was able to simply start a movie that would not copy in the player and pause it while pulling the main title over to shrink. This trick does not work either. Any help would be great.. I have a new HP pent 3 running winxp multimedia addition. All my software versions are the newest out there.

I'm also trying to back it up and running into the same problem with both programs. I think it might be an intentionally inserted bad sector on the disc. Try decrypting each file on the disc individually.

Say we do that and narrow it down to a certain file w/a bad sector. How than do we remove the file to make the movie. I will most definitely try tonight. But I was hoping to get other ideas. Can you think of anything else to try?

I used DVDxpress to rip/compress Harry Potter 2 and Nero to burn (Digital Matrix DVD+R @ 4x). It works just like the original.

So basically from what i am reading here. i will need to have every piece of dvd copying software out there in order to continue to backup my movies. Most of them are $50 to $150 dollars each. At that rate i might as well just buy the disc again used at blockbuster, If i damage teh original. So i guess what i am asking is has any one have been able to back this movie up with shrink and decrypter. Any version at any time.

I did the movie last week and it was not a clean copy. The disc you have may be defective.
.. Try these settings for DVD Decrypter.
First, it should be version 3.5.1.0 or later.

Open Decrypter, click on Tools, then Settings

Click on Defaults, then select these;

. General tab
. Options - Removal Method - Aggressive

. File Mode tab
. Options - Remove PUOs (IFO and/or VOB)

. ISO Read Mode tab
. Options - Remove PUOs (IFO and/or VOB)

. CSS tab
. CSS Cracking Method - Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange

. On Failure - Yes

IMPORTANT:
. I/O tab
. Options - Ignore read errors.

This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems.

Thanks, for the suggestions I will most certainly try it tonight. As for the disk It does not look scratched, but i agree it could have something wrong with it.

Download "Any DVD" and let it run in the background when you copy the disk. It's free for 21 days. Their is always new ways of protecting DVD's so you may have to update or switch Decrypters.

As I said I did the movie last week with only Shrink and Decrypter. You may have a bad original.

Did this movie months ago with DVD Shrink - no problems. Just use re-author mode to ditch unnecessary garbage.

Well if you both did this harry potter and the chanmber of secrets with just shrink and decryptor than i must have somthing wrong with this disk. Although i see no scratches at all and it works fine in every dvd player in my house. I guess i don't understand how everyone keeps saying to re-auther the disk. If it can't perform its initial analazation, than you can't choose anything. I mean theres nothing to choose. I can admit right now that i am lost. Apparently it either works for some or it does not. I appreachiate everyones help. maybe i will borrow the disk from somewhere else and see if it is diferent from the one i already own.

yeah, I am not talking about the latest one. There are 3 harry potter movies. I am speaking of the 2nd movie in the series. I bought the box set, and the newest movie. The 3rd film was undone with shrink by itself. The second movie in the series is not responding to anything i have. I have also just tried "Icopydvd2" software which did not work either.

I my self backed up the movie using DVD Decrypter then used DVD Shrink to burn from hard drive too disk and it worked great for me. I was able to do all 3 movies this way. It did take a long time to put them to disk, like 7 hours. A all nighter.
