I was wondering if extreme temperatures affect the data stored on a DVD+R. I have several movies that have been subjected to -30c. I played one of them on my laptop and and it started to freeze. My laptop runs very hot. I'm not sure how hot it got but when I took the movie out of the laptop it was hot to the touch. I don't know if it was the heat or the cold or both that ruined my backup bit it will no longer play. Can heat or cold ruin a DVD? If so, at what temperatures does the damage occur? Thanks

Heat is a bad thing for DVDr's. I don't think cold is such a big factor like heat.

DVD's should be stored at room temp in order to last. Being played in a hot laptop probably won't make a dvd crap out right a way, but if its hot enough, eventually it will effect playback.
