I have been using Shrink/Nero to burn and have made over 100 discs. It nows seems to fail on every disk. Media is the same batch. I burn -R & +R. Both fail. Any help would be great.

At a quick look you need to enable DMA mode for your Sony DVD RW.

I tried what you said, but no change. I went to the Sony website and updated the firmware. Still no change. I found a test utility on their site and the drive failed. I emailed the results to Sony as they requested. The drive is old, so I guess it may be time for a new one anyway.

sometimes you have to uninstall the drive, reboot and let windows reinstall the drive. Did you try that?

Sometimes you have to uninstall the IDE Channel the drive is on, reboot and let Windows reinstall the IDE Channel. Did you try that?

I didn't delete the drive, but when I updated the firmware it came up as new hardware found. I assumed that was the same as reinstalling it.

I read a post the other day that when Nero errors out around 6 times,then it automatically reverts to pio mode. Start,control panel,system check,hardware,device manager,ide-atapi controllers,primary ide-driver,right click properties,driver, then uninstall. reboot
Do the same to the secondary ide,reboot.

I uninstalled the drive and rebooted. I was able to burn 2 +r's. I slowed the burner to 2x on the first and max on the 2nd. I switched to -r and burned at max and it failed. I have not changed media or added any software. Any other ideas would be great.
