Well, not alltogether. But when making backups of my games such as
Star Ocean: TTEOT
Ratchet And Clank 3
Metal Gear Solid 3
and a couple others..

It seems during gameplay, the games themselves will hang, such as in SO:TTEOT. The game freezes up a few seconds while entering battle, and hangs before battle actually starts.

Ratchet And Clank, the voices seem to have a hard time loading. Oh they'll load, and play after the mouths of the characters have already moved, and sometimes wont at all.

MGS3. Right in the middle of gameplay it'll give me a little disk icon up in the top left corner. And a question mark. The game just stops. Nothing else. Every so often.

Now what I am using..
Lite-On DVDRW LDW-411S
Tried first with some cheap Spin-X dvd-rs, after failing numerous times got Some CompUSA DVD+Rs which will load and cause these problems.
DVD Decrypter to burn my backups.

Oop, forgot to add the second DVD burner,
DVDRW DRW-3S163

USE GOOD MEDIA

Burn at 2x speed.(MAX)
I suggest 1x Until your sure your backups work 100%

Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

Decent discs, though not perfect, about 85-95%
success rate:

RICOHJPN = Ritek or Ricoh = (+R)
SONYD04 = Sony = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
PRODISC = Prodisc Media = (+RW)
INFODISC = Infodisc Media = (+RW)
RITEKG04 = Ritek = (-R)
RITEKG03 = Ritek = (-R)
