No.
You have nothing to worry about.
Just make sure you get games that arent scratched up too bad.
(unless you rent 10 games a day (one every hour)
On your game pass and then they may get suspicious.)

Jizmak is correct. There is no possible way of telling if your rented ps2 disc has been in a dvd-burner or not. However, like Jizmak said, if you try renting more than a couple every single day or something like that, then they might get suspisious and maybe cancel your account.

Riyaz,

Blockbuster, Gamefly, or any of those other places do not have any type of devices to find out if you copy a game.

Seriously though, I think that alot of people are just paranoid, I rent from Netflix and get about 15 dvds a week, as soon as they come in and I decrypt them, I send them right back in the mail. I only need the dvd for about 20mins to decrypt them.

Think about this logic....do you honestly think that Blockbuster, Netflix, and Gamefly don't know you are copying them. Trust me, they know. They know that people will utilize their services, because they know that people want movies and games. Not only this, but I am about to increases my rental for Netlix from 5 to 8. Pretty much, you have to think of it like this....these companies that rent out via mail know you are burning, watching, trading, or what have you....the technology is their, burners and programs are their. These companies are here to make money. They don't care what you do with the movies (just as long as they get em back :P )

If you are concerned about whether or not you are going to get caught, you need to think about what and everyone else on the forum is saying.

Here is a phrase that most people live by......"Don't ask, don't tell."

To honestly think that Blockbuster would cancel your account if you rent say 16 games a week is ridiculous, they might think you either have no life or just think you REALLY like games, but they will take your money, because they want the business.

Hope this helps in some way, but to be truthful, your being paranoid....so relax and enjoy the miracle of burn movies and definately thank the programmers who made programs like DVD Decrypt and ANYDVD, oh yeah and CLONE DVD, they are awesome!

See ya on the forums......

Yeah, just copy it.....but like jizmak said, make sure there are no scratches, you don't want to waste your time......

Oh yeah, a couple more things.....if you don't know about copying games, make sure that you get a mod chip because they won't work unless you do. I haven't done it myself, but I am going to soon. If you have any other problems, the veteran forum people can help you out, they are definately knowledgable.

If you do computer games as well, I know of some programs that will definately help you out.

Ok, that should do it.....have a good time with the games and if you find an easy way of doing the copying make a guide and post it in the forums, that will definately be helpful.....so I can use it...LOL!

See ya!

You don't need to have a modchip, you can go the boot disc route.

Swap Magic v3.3 would be the boot discs of choice. With these discs, depending on your ps2 version, you will also need to make a slight mod to your system. These mods are simple to do though, you can get a replacement fliptop for any version, use a slidecard for anything before the slimline, and if you have the slimline there are a handful of selections as well, like the slimtool, magic switch i think, a fliptop, and the tape mod.

Hey dragulaAC,

Thanks for the info....I do have one question thought:

Which is easier to do and faster-swap magic or mod chip?

I keep hearing about the swap magic but then the mod chip installation looks really easy, then the software and stuff.

From your personal opinion, what are the pros and cons of these 2?

Thanks for your help!

Well i've always just gone with SwapMagic. The drawback of using SwapMagic is basically the fact that you have to load SwapMagic everytime you want to play a backup disc. It only takes seconds really, so i don't mind, but some people feel this is a major inconvenience to them.
Having a modchip installed allows you to just toss your backup in and play, like any original game. Most modchips require soldering wires to the mobo, so i stay clear of that. Or you can buy a pre-modded ps2 or even pay someone else to install it for you.

Really it's a preference thing, i have no problem loading SM to boot my backups.

Normally "They" wouldn't be able to find out, but now you've just admitted to piracy, so now "They" know.

Online Banking Hackers Arrested
Updated 1/24/2005
By Rod Johnson
SQNews

THE LATEST arrest of 50 suspected hackers and virus writers in England demonstrates that organized cyber attacks are emerging, antivirus firm Sophos said Friday.

?Hackers and virus writers in England seized upon the opportunity to make significant amounts of money by writing these Trojan horses,? said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos.

Apparently, the hackers used Trojans (computer virus) to steal information from unsuspecting users as they log on to the Internet-based bank accounts.

The FBI arrested more than 50 people, including the head of the hacker ring, Riyaz Reana. Most of the hackers were under the age of 25 The hackers had been stealing money from Internet bank accounts using ?phishing? techniques and Trojan viruses.

Reports indicated that the hackers allegedly stole about 30 million dollars from online banking customers, and Reana was responsible for about 20 million of that personally.

The FBI had been tracking Reana for the last few months and is very happy with the recent arrests. "We have enough evidence on Riyaz Reana to get an easy conviction," FBI spokesperson John Leving stated. The trial is expected to start as early as next week in Washington.

The hackers hit several banks with Trojan horses that allowed them to steal information from some users. Affected banks included CitiBank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and others.

?The U.S. authorities should be congratulated for taking swift action against this activity; 50 arrests give some idea of the huge scale of this kind of organized Internet crime,? said Cluley.

Sophos has warned computer users early this year of the increasing trend of Trojan horses being written to target customers of online banking websites.

Trojans are computer viruses that infect computers but remain hidden from users. Combined with phishing techniques (identity theft), the Trojan steals personal information from users whose PCs are infected.

The users are usually led to a fake login page which will ask the victim to provide confidential data. The data is then e-mailed back to the hacker?s e-mail address.

?All computer users should be running up-to-date anti-virus and protect their PC with a firewall. This, combined with the safe computing practice of exercising caution over what you choose to run on your computer, can dramatically reduce the risks of these kinds of attacks,? Cluley said.

Your right, squizzle...it is great advice, because everyone ELSE has admitted it as well. So, "THEY" can show up all they want.

Seriously though, don't let it seems that you are supposed to run to the cops and FBI and say, "Hey, I steal money from the movie and game industry because I don't have anything better to do." That is what I am saying. The originator of the post was wondering if he was ggoing to get caught.....and remember the thread that dragulaAC commented on...http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/148004,
that is all i am saying.

Look at all the posts of people looking to do things....

To be honest, yeah, I will admit it, at least I am not denying it, and hey....if they come looking for me, oh well, pay a fine, go on with life.....but yet, this will always be going on.
