hello to all.
I want to begin to backup my collection of dvd's.

I just purchased a sony DVD burner DVD+R.
I also have purchased DVD copy x.

My question is this:
Is this all i need to backup my DVD's?
I dont want anything fancy, just a simple copy.

Thank you.

You will probably also need to download Anydvd and DVD Decrypter. They are the only 2 decrypting programs that have been updated to work on the new form of dvd encryption now out. X copy by itself won't work on the new encryption. You may also want to download DVD Shrink which works well with Decrypter. Shrink and Decrypter are free to download and use off the software tab at page top. Guides for them off the guide tab.

Well my first choice would not be an external drive, but many members use them. One thing you absolutely need with the external is a USB2 port if thats how you are going to connect. USB1 ports do not have the data transfer rate needed for dvd burning. Even with USB2 your time needed for a dvd backup will be somewhat longer than if using an internal drive, but not excessive.
