ADIP Retrieval Method 1 with DVD Identifier

Hey, I have a Toshiba ODD-DVD SD-R6252 (that's a DVD+R/+RW burner), and i have the latest Firmware update, version 1A14, which was just released this past December. When I use DVD Identifier to check the info of a blank +R disk, it says the attempt failed because my drive does not support "ADIP Retrieval Method 1" and the a firmware update is suggested.

I thought it was the case that this method, although relatively new, should be supported by most DVD drives by this point, especially with a brand new firmware update. Is this not the case? Is there anything I can do to be able to read the manufacturer info, etc off a blank disk, or am I doomed to always have to check after burning something onto it?
