I have two related projects I am working on and need advice on what software and/or hardware to accomplish them.

I have about 60 VHS recordings of radio shows done by me and my partners that need to be digitized since the tapes are degrading steadily. The tapes each contain 6 hours of music(two 3hr. shows). It would be fairly easy to simply make compressed CD's of the shows (and I may do that for most of the tapes), but I would like to be able to add "visualizations" to some of the best shows and then make fully compatible DVD's of 1-2 hour blocks to share with friends. The basic question is- Is is possible to combine the visuals/plug-ins and music and burn them together directly without resorting to combining them via moviemaking software, which is very labor intensive?

The second project is similar in some ways. I am now able to take the audio stream of the above radio show and make analog recordings of it (along with visualizations of various types) by using the AV outputs on my computer and then making VHS recordings. I can make direct digital recordings of the audio as it streams in too, but don't know how to combine that with visuals at the time of recording, digitally, in the computer itself. It is quite labor intensive doing this after the fact with movie software that I have and I am very limited in the visuals that software(Movie Edit Pro) has to work with. Can this be done all at once as the audio streams if you have better software/hardware.
