I use Verbattim DVD+R DL for episodic disks and very long movies and haven't had a problem with them. They have come down in price over the last few months and I would expect them to fall more over the next little while.

Why is it that i havent seen any dual layer in the dvd -r format. All of them seem to be in +r format and i am wondering if there would be some sort of problems on older dvd players. I have totally steered away from dvd+r being that some dvd players just dont work with that kind of a format.

@ GV,

You are correct. Older players don't do +R media. The +R media didn't come out until 03' so the older players weren't setup for it. Also, some newer discs that are 8X and up have trouble on some players as well.

SOLUTION: Buy a Cyber-Home ($39.99) cheapo player. It will play a plastic FrizzBee if there isn't too much caked mud on it :)

I did read some time ago that DVD-R DL disks were being (or were about to be) manufactured - but as yet haven't seen any yet.
The "el cheapo" DVD players are amazing and will play anything I throw into it.

Give it time - There will be -R Dual-layer discs - though I doubt there will be any difference between the 2 - just as there isn't any difference between 8X now. Go Figure, Huh ?
