I have been helped by members of this forum so much in this issue, so I decided to give something back to the newer, less experienced members on this topic.
Sorry if this has been done many times, but I keep seeing 'how do I burn a PS2 game' over and over. Many people don't search the forum so hopefully they'll read this before they post.
Mods, feel free to delete this if I am breaking any rules.
YOU WILL NEED
a mod-chipped PlayStation 2
a PC equipped with a DVD Recorder and alot of HD space
Ritek or any similar DVD-R or DVD+R with purple dye
Registered version of Alcohol 120%
------------------------------------------------------
PART ONE - COPYING DISC TO AN IMAGE FILE
------------------------------------------------------
STEP 1 - Buy and install Alcohol 120%
STEP 2 - Insert the game/disc you want to copy into
ur CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/Burner.
STEP 3 - Open Alcohol 120% and click on 'Image Making
Wizard' on the left panel. Choose the drive
(in which you inserted you're disc) from the
top drop-down menu. Leave the read speed on
'Maximum' and click next. Choose where to
save your image and what filename it will
have (make sure you save on a big partition,
ie more than 15gb at least). Click Start and
try to allow the process to run without you
doing anything...to ensure minimal errors.
------------------------------------------------------
PART TWO - BURNING IMAGE TO COMPLETE YOUR BACKUP
------------------------------------------------------
*NOTE* - If possible use a Ritek G04 or similar disc with a purple-colored dye, these are my personal favorite as I have never had a problem at all with them. They are also highly recommended by members of this board (use the Search for proof) *NOTE*
STEP 1 - Insert you're DVD-R or DVD+R disc into your
DVD Recorder.
STEP 2 - Start Alcohol 120% and select 'Image Burning
Wizard' from the left panel. Click browse
and find and select the image you created. If
you don't need the image anymore, tick the
'Delete image file after recording' box.
Click next.
STEP 3 - Select your DVD Recorder from the top
drop-down menu. From the next drop-down menu,
select the SLOWEST writing speed available
(slower writing is more accurate so there is
less probability for error). Leave the 'Write
Method' as 'DVD DAO.' Enable 'Simulation' if
you think you need to test first and
tick 'Enable Buffer Underrun Technology' if
it is available. Leave anything else as it is
and click 'Start'
STEP 4 - Once the process has begun, leave you're
computer to finish the process. The more
things it has to do at once, the more chance
of something going wrong.
----------------------------------------------
Once you're backup is complete, stick it into your PS2 and play away. It is a very simple procedure and for me, has a 100% success rate even though I have backed up more than 300 games.
Remember, your PS2 MUST HAVE A MOD-CHIP otherwise backed up games will not work!!
Also, it is very important that you use Ritek or similar A GRADE DVD Recordables because they do matter! I have tried cheaper media and they are slow and unreliable. The music and videos in your games will constantly skip and slow down...or ever pause for long times.
Enjoy backing up and playing your games :-)
Thanks for all members of this board, they helped me to compile this guide (by helping me a while ago) and they all deserve credit! Thanks guys, you are always helpful.
