Gameshark v4 -- help with DVD back-up

I have a back-up of an import game, and I'm wondering if it'll work with a Gameshark v4 instead of a Swap Magic? I've checked around the forum a bit, and read that you can do it with a v4 AND a Swap Magic...so what I'm wondering is: can it be done with just a Gameshark v4 alone and not the Swap Magic tagging along with it? Because I wanted to see if this would work first before I go buy myself a Swap Magic (I can always return the Gameshark v4..) so yea. Just wondering.

And also..if Gameshark v4 won't work, where can I find v1 or v2 (retail stores only.)

You will need a modchip or swap magic disks.
with the gs you will have only 10 seconds to complete
the procedure before the disks are spinning again.
(opening the tray without swap magic disks
will damage your ps2 as the disks are still spining)
Get swap magic disks qnd save yourself from buying a new ps2
