What is the best dvd-r media on the market today? And
which is better (Fuji made in Taiwan or TDK made in taiwan?)

From what I've read on this site, Taiyo Yuden seems to be the best quality you can buy. Check out rima.com, they have very good prices. I picked up a 100 pack of DVD+R's for $48.00.

Absolutely, without a doubt, Taiyo Yuden are consistently the best I've ever used, I buy nothing else now.

Do they make a non printable version? Because I don't print on my disks. I use a sharpie.

Yes Taiyo Yuden has non printable media. They make more of that then the printable ones.

Add one more voice to the chorus. Taiyo Yuden are without a doubt the best. Since I don't use a printer with my dvds either, I only use the silver thermal laquer's, which also happen to be the cheapest. I guess that makes up for thermal printers costing as much as they do ?

About your other question, you'd have to know the media ID of each to be able to say for sure.
