 ... Hmmmm, let's see ...

.. In my opinion .. in no particular order ..

 . Maxell .
 . RiDATA branded Ritek .
 . Verbatim .
 . TDK .
 . ProDisc .

... For +R, the best for the lowest price is RiDATA ...
... For -R, the best for the lowest price is ProDisc ...

... Of course this is just my opinion and is subject to debate ...

{touch wood as have only used about 90ish, some where made in india, some taiwan, but all same media code} verbatim datalife -R 8x (of course i only use them at 4x to guarantee non-skipping movies. daren't waste money on another brand; only switch media when one single disc skips, so far no skipping from verbatim

taiyo yudens are probably the one's you can trust most. some Maxell's can come back to be ritek's, and the good one's can be quite pricey. but for the best price, i would stick to ritek G04'S or G05'S. i have backedup hundreds of movies, and i've had about 2 coasters out of about 300 backups + (mostly operator error, not disk problems)

Taiyo Yuden is a very Japanese brand. They are more expensive than all the other brands but there quality is second to none!!! They work flawlessly for me. Just my honest opinion.

I use Sony 8X DVD-R media "SONY08D1". Asus recommended this media at 16x burn on my unit. No coasters ever, even at 16x. This burner uses NEC chips. Nice thing also about this media is it is usually on sale at $19.99 for 50 cake.

So far I have used 1500 verbratim, 500 sony and 600 ritek and 300 ty. These are the good media in the market. But the more econ disk are I would say is verbratim lol. Taiyo is a very reputated brand and a good media but a little too expensive.
Overall, I would prefer verbratim dataplus becos it is econ and I never have coaster b4 with this brand.
The result of verbratim is the same as taiyo.
