Having a problem reading DVD's now!!!!!!!!!

I am now having a new problem with DVD Shrink. When I click on open disk it will open a dvd to a certain point and then I will get an error message that reads:

DVD Shrink has encountered an error and cannot continue Failed to read drive E: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

....I have no idea what this means. It does not happen on all of the DVD's that I try to burn, but on half of them this message comes up and will not open the disk. I really need someone's help with this. I am lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
