Does having a desktop pic slow down the performance of a computer? I have mine set to a neutral gray color. I am a graphic designer, and having grey is easy on the eye when working with various color. Getting proper callaberation is also difficult between 2 monitors, printer, scanner, etc.

there's something very odd going on with this thread at the moment. i've posted a reply and it doesn't show up. Then i copy/paste the text i'd posted and 2 posts show up. Then i delete the first one and both disappear. Now i've cleared cookies and all that crap, from both firefox and (ugh, internet explorer, though don't tell anyone i've used that tripe!) and it keeps happening. Will leave 2 posts in place for now, hopefully the Admins can explain what's gone on....

i've got two linux machines at work and at the moment 3 or 4 linux machines at home (i rebuild machines quite a bit, i can't keep up with what machines i have myself!), but mainly i use Enlightenment with 2000ish desktops on random so the best i can post is this http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y178/creaky/p1010232.jpg from http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/208116/2960963

c1c: no,desktop backgrounds don't slow the PC down in any way, it can just look tidier with a neutral colour backdrop.

Oh I have folders to try and minimise the mess. I have 450gb worth of folders. I gots folders coming out the waazoo. And the torrent files on the desktop...are um, not for downloading. uhhh, they are for something else. People who chat to me on mIRC may know what those ones are for. I have spoken at great length with people about some of the uses for torrent files:-) even helped a couple of people with ratios & the like.

Here's my desktop pic.
@Bubba, it looks like we're both using the basic Style XP theme. I've grown quite attached to it.
[EDIT: I decided to change the upload file to a jpeg, rather than a png.]
