Okay, so I've been reading, and from what I gathered, the quality of AVI files will not be very good no matter what you use nor how many methods you use. Is this completely true? Is there anything I could possible do to improve picture quality? I converted an AVI file using WinAVI and the quality was horrible, but I currently got a hold of NeroVision Express and the quality was much better (far from excellent, but much better than the results I got with WinAVI). Anyways, just curious...

AVIs are a compressed version of a higher quality original such as a DVD rip so naturally they will lose quality compared to the original. The saying "you can't make something from nothing" holds true for trying to improve the quality of an AVI since you can't improve what isn't there. The quality of the encoder has the biggest affect on the final result :)
