I am attempting to build a PC that can be used as a media center, however I want to use windows 64 bit ediiton (the processor is an amd athlon 64). I am stuck between two remotes: the first one is the ATI wonder remote (not the second generartion), and the second is the Microsoft Media center remote (for MCE 2005). Both will work with linux, however I am not sure that the microsoft remote will actually work with plain windows XP (64 bit in my case). The ATI remote should work, but I would rather have the Microsoft remote. Anyone know if I can use the Microsoft remote with XP? or do I have to use MCE to use it?

hello, im curious to hear your findings as well, im building an entertainment cube machine, but dont want to get media center, but I would like to get microsofts media control, will it work with plain xp? and what about vid capt cards?
