I would suggest you get rid of Platinum and download Shrink and Decrypter from the downloads section. Both are free and in my opinion far superior to anything XCopy has. Read the guides and start backin up your DVDs.
Good Luck,
HW.

I used to use DVD X Copy, and I must say that since I found DVD Shrink I am much happier. X Copy gave me lots of software conflicts and was really picky about the movies it would work on (and probably is worse now). DVD Shrink is free, gives you more options, and in my opinion gives you a much better backup. Also I haven't heard of any software conflicts with Shrink at all. The only bummer about Shrink is there will be no more updates because the guy who made Shrink works for Nero now, but that hasn't proved to be a problem yet since there are lots of really good decrypters out there, like AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter. I hope that answers your question.

Hey 4433181,
Like squiz, I also had Xcopy. Two versions.(two time loser) Platinum was just pure crap. I think there are a bunch of folks here at AD that owned that garbage at one time or another and most if not all will give you a poor review of XCopy. Let us know how you are getting along with Shrink and Decrypter. Make sure to keep AnyDVD, it's a great program.
Good Luck,
HW.

I have the LG Super Multi DVD Writer in external version, and have never had a coaster yet (or problem) using Nero Express (OEM that came with my burner) and DVD Decrypter first (in file mode) and DVD Shrink afterwards with "Burn using Nero" enabled.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Oh no one asked what media you are trying to record to. I use Verbatim 4x DVD+R with great success.

At what step are you having problems. Please give us a step by step. The more detail we have, the easier it will be to fix your problems. I'm sure that you'll be backin up your DVD's like a pro in no time.

4433181,
I would suggest you get rid of XCopy and find some high quality media (Memorex isn't considered to be all that great for DVD backups). Download DVD Decrypter, it's a great program and can also be used as a burner for Shrink.
Now that you have all the tools, click on the guides tab and find the Shrink guide. Just follow the directions and I'm sure you'll be backing up DVDs in no time.
Good Luck,
HW.

As to step by step - the 3rd tab above is Guides and there are several good ones there.

The third tab above "Guides" will answer most of the rest.
