By the way if I burn a bad backup how do I know it will be a bad backup? Will it skip not load at all or what? I just want to know what are the symtoms usally assiciated with bad copies? and is it always apprent right away it's bad?

i burn all my games at 2.4x on cheap media and all works (unles the game itself is bad)

when you read an image do you have to read it at a low speed too?

read speed doesn't matter, it won't effect the final product. Personally, I burn at 4x with Taiyo Yuden 8x +r. Works great for me.
