I would imagine that it's possible if you install linux on the xbox but it would probably be a pain in the ass.
Most games downloaded from the internet are iso's. You would have to extract the iso to play off the hard drive anyway.

Unless Crank means to download the game off of the actual game disk onto the hard drive. That is possible. If you mean download the games straight from the internet onto the hard drive then:
1. that is illegal and cannont be discussed on these boards.
2. It would be a real pain.
But if you mean to make a backup of a disk you currently own onto your hard drive so you do not need the disk to play...then yes, that is possible.

How detailed do you want that question to be answered?
A) get a mod chip
B) install it properly
C) Get a bigger Hard Drive
D) Install it properly
E) Use one of the many available apps to save your legally owned game to the HDD.

use:
1. X3 bios - needs this with Xecuter 3 CE
2. boxplorer - kinda like explorer file manager for xbox
3. flashFTP - allows you to ftp the game files to xbox hard drive
Now if you want to copy the fame back to dvd, then just create an iso and use Nero to burn it back to dvd.
easy eh mate?

Sure it's possible, but it would be a waste of time, considering that you would have to unpack the .iso on your xbox which would be a pain in the ass.

If he already has a working bios, then I dont see any real reason he should change it, and If he is having difficulties I think that DVD2Xbox would be a better app to use. Just search the internet for it, then intall it in the applications folder on your xbox. Then in Evox, go to applications and click on dvd2xbox.

If you have installed the X3 Bios, Ver.2914 and don't want to search for Apps and Dashboards and figure out how to edit the ini files to get everything to work together at this time, then find and download Slayer's Auto Install 2.6. It will install Evox dashboard as default, XBMC(Media Center), two apps ( HDDLoader & DVD2Xbox)to copy the games you own from the Xbox to the new hard drive you installed.

Did you install the chip youself? and if so is it flashed yet? Normally after you flash your chip evox is installed. Xecuter 3 is not a program. Evox is a program. Xecuter 3 is a chip.

Hey Grimace92, You've installed the X3, right?
Have you flashed the X3 with the X3 Bios, Ver. 2914 or the new one 3029.
You must do that before you can do anything else. If you have not flashed the bios yet, when you do, make sure you use the right one. There's a ver. for the 1.0 to 1.5 Xbox and one just for the 1.6 ver.

1. I use X3 CE. Love it. Asking what chip to buy is like asking what car to buy, Everyone has their own likes and such.
2. As far as I know, no vendor will sell you a chip with a Bios installed on it.
3. You can download games on to your standard drive, but its small, between 8 and 10 Gig. You will not be able to store to many games on it. Figure a game takes up between 1 Gig to 3+ Gig, so do the math.
4. As far as lock/ unlock goes, check out the Tutorial " Locking a replacement HD.
If you go with the X3, after you install it, you will have to get a Bios for it first, then a Dashboard and Apps. If you get Slayers Auto Install, it will do the last two but you'll still have to get the X3 bios.

evildead8 - do an internet search, search for: "Slayers Auto Installer". Among all the results you should find one that says "Welcome to the Official Slayers Xbox Installer Web Site", when you get there, you will have to register as far as I know.

Have you tried using DVD2Xbox instead of Boxploer?
DVd2Xbox also supports the X3 LCD screen, don't even have to turn the TV on to copy a game to your Xbox Hard drive.
