horsemen, when you say people say "memorex" is bad or poor media, those people don't know much. That's a very bland statement and most media manufacturer's use a variety of different companies to make their media. I've personally gotten 4 different media codes with Memorex media all have worked pretty well. The best ones were about a year ago and were "RICOH" although the last spindle I bought from Office Depot were "MBI" Moser Baer and are awesome.

If they say Made in India they should be great as they are Moser Baer.

My Memeorex still runs great! I guess it must be because of my thousands of dollars wrapped up in this box. (just kidding of course.)
DVDRs only going to last 30 years? I'm pretty sure I wont be watching DVDs in 30 years. God help me if I do. And God help you as well.

Struck a cord? What about those comments gives you that impression? When someone is so clueless as to make comments like that, its hard not to at least point it out.

Memorex a.k.a Ritek when checked in DVD Decrypter.I haven't had any problems with memorex dvdr, only memorex cd-r's that were white on the top and the info peeled off or cracked and they really sucked ass. The only problem that I recently had was burning with Nero. After having some bad burns and reading about burning issues with Nero and SP2 for windows I had to switch back to DVD Decrypter. There was an article in PC mag that says that an SP2 update can drain a lap top battery faster and cause burning isses with DL burners using Nero. So, I have updated firmware and burn with decrypter no problems burning either spti or pattin couffin.

I have to admit that memorex lately has taken the hint and is buying more of their media from more reputable manufactures although as long as there is still a chance of getting CMC or Infodisk I won't buy any especially when I can buy proven, quality, I know what I'm getting media for less money.

An update on my previous post in this thread.

Today I did a burn using Memorex DVD-R 4X ProdiscS03 and then a burn using Sony 8X SONY08D1. I watched both movies, (they were the same movie,) and I could not believe the difference in the quality. My Sony burn was flawless and my Memorex burn had shifts within itself where you could actually see a slight blur here and there especially doing scenes with slow movement. If someone else tried this, then compared the two burns, I?m sure they also would agree.
