DVD recognizes DVD+R as a blank Cd

I have a SOny DRU-120A burner, and it worked fine for the first 50 blanks. Now i bought a 25 pack of Ridata DVD+R (4x) and when i put them in my PC, my comp. thinks that it is a blank CD. ANy ideas? thanks

My machine does the same thing but I have no problems burning.

When it goes to burn the disk pops out and it says there was a problem with the disk. I have no clue.

i think i am correct in saying this is relatively old burner?
have you tried updating the firmware?
it may be a compatibilty issue with the media you are trying to use,updating the firmware may solve this.

other than doing what i suggested i dont think there is a lot you can do,without using different media
it definetly sounds like a media issue,are there no other dvd you can try
with kind regards hursty

neslo420: I've had this problem with Nero, only it wasn't really a problem per se. With the combo drives, if you don't use the wizzard, you might forget it's set to burn a cd and not dvd. I tried to burn a dvd iso and i would select it and it would say the compilation was too big. I looked at the setting and i had selected cd burn and not dvd. Not sure about other burners but it's possible the settings are set to burn cd and not dvd.
