Ok im stumped.Its not ofen that i use a dvd-rw but i tried a few weeks ago and wheher i put a new one in or one with data on, i get a complete lock up on my pc.Only way to unfreeze is to restart by the button.Strange cos i can use CDRW with no probs.I was using a pioneer 107 and an lg rom and thought that i might be the 107 playing up as it was flashed with non pioneer firmware.However time for some new gear so im now using a plextor rom and a 716a burner.Same problem...total lock up. my system is winxp,one seagate 160gb 2 partitions, maxtor 200gb one partition,athlon xp3200 1gb ddr400 crucial ram asus a7v-600 board.I have no conflicts,all drivers are current latest nero but no sp2.Any ideas??

what kind of RW are you using?

have you tried a different brand dvd rw?
