So which is the better media out of the following?!

1. Memorex DVD+R (x4)
2. Philips DVD+R (x4)
3. TDK DVD+R (x4)
4. Maxell DVD+R
5. Verbatim DVD+R

Been using the above mostly Memorex and was just wondering which one i should stick to?!

Thanx for any help...

Reverse the order of that list and you'll be good. Memorex sucks. Taiyo Yuden is better than any of those though.

Most knowledgable users on here will tell you that Taiyo
Yuden is the premium brand of blank media. Genuine TY
are professional grade and will give you the least problems. Verbatim Datalife Plus made by MCC and Riteck
with the code Richojpn are also quality media. Zeide.

1)Verbatim-I'd take the media life plus:+8x-mcc003,they seem to be working a lot better than the +4x media life-mcc002 and ricohjpn01.Still all pretty good.

2)Maxell +: All I have burned were coded ricohjpn-01 and reports of Hitachi on the +8x's.

3)Tdk,but I don't think i wouldn't burn the 4x. I'd get the 8x.

4)phillips +4x,burned a few:seem to be ok.Nothing great.

5) Memorex: wouldn't waste my money on them. Hard to figure out who made them. You can buy a lot better quality for about the same price as these, maybe even cheaper.

Of course ty's are said to be the best.

If you are buying your media in a store, Look on the wrapper for the words: MADE IN JAPAN
Japan makes the finest media like ty,some verbatim,sony +1-8x"made in Japan by ty,some tdk's,some fujis,and some maxell's.
MADE IN TAIWAN: Some can be pretty good like verbatim, sony +1-8x,and some maxell'sSome can be landfill.
Anywhere else: avoid them completely.

Notice I stated those sony + 1-8x's are made in both japan and taiwan, that's why I look at the wrapper.Same price, different manufacturers on them. They were even mixed up on the same shelf.

The same hold's true for most of these brands. I believe all true ty's are made in japan, unless someone else posts some made in taiwan.

I pretty much agree.
1) TY although they aren't on your list.
2)Verbatum as long as they are Datalife Plus.
3)Maxell
4)TDK
5)Phillips - I have some Sony branded Phillips 041 dvd+rw's that I've used over and over - never a coaster.
I won't even put memorex on the list as they are too far down the line. Stay away from them and retail store brand media eg: Staples, Comp USA.
