i want to know what is a good combination standalone dvd player for about $70 and dvd-r or dvd+r's that work great together, anyone have any suggestions?

An excellent DVD player is Phillips DVP642. I have 3 in my house and they all play fine. If you have any problems, try not to label the discs.
