Hello,
I'm new at this. I've purchased a I/O Magic DVD+RW+R for my tower, of course it already had the CD Rom... The Nero software was loaded and good at burning CD's. My question is, is there something else I need to burn copies of DVD's?

Download dvd shrink, and dvd decrypter,(both free) and check out the guides for using these programs at the top of this page under the guides tab.

Dont forget to look around and find a quality brand of disc to use. Research before you buy something you will regret.
