Hey

I have been using Maxell DVD-R for a while now and never a problem till last night. About 30 disks left in this batch and ran into problems with the drive accepting them. They would actually lock up my drive to the point that I would have to uninstall my drive and reboot it. Bellow is the media code off one disk that it dvd Identifier could read. Out of the 30 disks I got 9 bad ones in a row on this batch but my new spindle was perfect 50 for 50 with no bad disks. Just curious if anyone has had similar issues with thier media in the past?

I use the maxell dvd+r (golden) and I have had no trouble so far from my backups.

Where did you buy them, they could possibly be fake.
Identify the discs with no problem and the discs with problems and compare is my guess.

Sound like fakes. No manufacturer name and messed up MID. Get these off of ebay? If you did, don't buy blank media off of ebay again. Always choose a reputable retailer with good return policies when purchasing blank media online.

When I buy - format, I love the maxell -4x yellowtops,mxlrg-02,ty-go1,and ritek-go4.The -8x maxell goldtops are also looking good: mxl-rg-03.

I've bought 5,10,15 and 25 pack spindles. I haven't heard of any 30 pack spindles.

They do sound like fakes,i've seen on digitalfaq.com that there were some out there.

Can you describe their appearance?
Do you still have the outside wrapper? check out what country they were made in. Also,if you bought them at a local store, they may need that outside wrapper. It should be like a heavy shrink-wrap.You may be able to get your money back.

I have had great luck with the Maxell's but have switched to printable "Want to get away from lables" (really sucks peeling them off) now so I am just using up what is left of the disks. I can get Verbaitim $74.00 ..Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MCC 02RG20 ] ..

and

Prodisk $29.00 ..Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:ProdiscF01].. both made in Tiawan

here as well as some TDK printables at costco but they seem a little fishy as they have a new lable on the outside of the wraper and say made in India? Don't know about those. Anyway's thanks for the info.

Cheers
