I heard there is a file that once inserted in the nero directory will allow nero to copy copy-protected movies
is this true?
and if so, where could I download the file?

Its actually a program and its called AnyDVD, but you will need to actually do more than just that if you are trying to back up your original DVD's. Check out my website located in my signature below this should help you out. :-)

I am having a problem that has started happening since i DL'd AnyDVD and CloneDVD2
Now when i run Shrink and start shrinking a movie to the HD, sometime during the copy, the puter shuts down and reboots
and the second time it did this, my profile was corrupted, causing me to have to "restore" from last week
is this something strange or are others having this problem?
and the copy wasnt complete so it happened sometime in the middle of the shrinking

Opus54,
Try this:-
1/ Un-install all three applications.
2/ Download Lavasoft AdAware SE (free) and also Spybot Search & Destroy (also free) and run a scan to see if you have any adware/spyware gremlins that might be causing you problems. Run a virus scan also.
3/ Re-install AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 & Shrink & see if you still get the problem.
4/ Just a thought, but if you have ever in the past installed a demo or retail version of Roxio Easy Media Creator in the past, clear all traces of Roxio from your registry as this prog can often conflict with a lot of other applications.
You never know, you might be lucky and these procedures might solve your problem. If they dont, it might be worth trying a roll back to an even earlier rstore point on your o/s than the one that you've already rolled back to & see what happens.
Good luck with it anyway.

Yes I have used Roxio's Create-a-cd in the past

Well, the jury is still out on that one, because I havent reinstalled AnyDVD yet to see if the problem comes back
I have made several copies this morning using shrink, with no problems, tonight I will install AnyDVD again and see what happens
could it be because it was trial version of AnyDVD?
I will see what happens and let you know
thanks for the help, i appreciate it

No, I dont, what does INCD do for Nero?
I wonder, I just bought a used dvd driver (read only) from e-bay and installed it, i wonder if that reading stuff from dvd's could have caused the shut downs

Opus54,
Sorry for going quiet on the thread. I meant to email you the link for the Roxio clean tool when I got home last night, but I got held up.Looks like jim_dandy took good care of you in this respect though.
Casting my mind back around eight months ago, I do remember having some conflicts of various prog's on my machine after downloading SP2 on XP Home. At that time, Mesh Computers were aware of an issue when installing SP2 to run with some AMD Athlon 64 Processors.
Until they had found a patch to fix this problem for me(which took them an age), I just un-installed SP2 and then the conflicts that I had at the time were solved.
Of course that might not be anything to do with your issues, but might be worth a try?
Good luck.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is SP2?
Spybot search and destroy?

Its short for service pack 2(xp windows update)and its caused alot of problems for some, and none for others.
I chose to not take the chance, and stayed away from it.
