Greetings all. I'm new to this area of gaming, and yet to modify my PAL slimline PS2, primarily because I've still got concerns about what it will involve. To put it simply, I have these questions:

1. Will I need a Slide Tool if I've already used the tape/straw method, or Magic Switch/Slimtool, to block the open/close sensors?
2. If I have Swap Magic, do I have to download anything to adapt my memory card for imported (NTSC) games?

-A 'slidecard' is used for ps2 v1-11, not slimline. If you have the tape mod done correctly, then you do not need anything else for your backups to work properly,..other than SM discs.

-Your memory card should work fine.
